Meet Jordan!

The storyboard is really coming a long! I think our idea is really effective and that it will create a really interesting and visually quirky video! Here are some photo's of our Actor Jordan Fox, Jack's (non-identicle) twin brother, he does drama and art, and is really into photography. He has his own blogger account where he displays his art and photography. He fits our character really well and has the 'look' we're trying to achieve, I also think he will appeal to our audience.

i like the hat and i think a trilby type hat would look really good for the style we want!

this outfit would be perfect for the look we want to achieve.

Aphex- Come To Daddy

After pitching our idea to Miss Sutton, and telling her about our duplicate idea (here) she showed us an interesting video which incorporates the duplicate idea in a different way, with many people with the same identities and costume. It also fits with the strange and abstract vibe we wanted in our video. The editing in this video is faster than we'd like in ours but it shows an interesting use of filters to create an atmosphere, and simple things to create effect, e.g costume

looking at effects

I have been looking at some possible effects online which may work well in our video to give it an artistic and vintage vibe. These effects will also be useful for making the posters/c.d cover as it will allow the vibe to be consistent throughout the bands merchandising. The following effects can be created through the use of photoshop.

lomo photography

mysterious lighting

vintage photo effect

professional HDR

 dramatic colours

 cross process

dynamic lighting

On my iphone I have an app that allows you to create vintage photo's as if taken from an SLR film camera, you can create lots of different effects depending on the film, lens and flash.

this is one of the photographs taken using one of the many combinations of film, lens and flash.

Rotoscoping Practice

Above is some rotoscoping I did to try it out, I cut a bit of a video from The Smiths on TubeChop, then downloaded that, converted it to a .mov file, then opened the frames as layers in Photoshop, where I drew over 24 of them and this was the result. Obviously this is only a rough trial, but the main idea is there.

Audience Profile

I created an audience profile on Photoshop summing up the stereotypical audience from the answers we received on the questionnaire!

Another idea..

We have had is inspired by the iPhone 4 (see below) video's introduction, I think it will look effective to have Jordan strumming a guitar and then after a few seconds add jordan 2 to the shot playing a drum, then to add Jordan 3 to the shot playing another instrument. This will not only look quirky and interesting but it will also keep our characters to a minimum which will make connotations to it being all about jordan portraying his arrogance and selfishness which reflects the song.

Ideas

We have decided to create a seemingly abstract video however when deeply analysed there will be connections between the lyrics and visuals. I think the idea of using a gothic church and having our character (Jordan) skipping through it will create irony similar to the irony between the lyrics and the beat of the song. This will also create a connection to "and now I know how Joan of arc felt" as the history behind Joan of arcs roots are linked to religion and Catholicism. I also think playing scrabble in the church would create an interesting irony and also allow us to use stop motion.

I think this will create a quirky and interesting video, which appeals to the indie genre.
