Things we need to focus on for our Marketing Campaign

Producing your Ancillary products:
- Creating a Marketing campaign

A digi-pack (cd package)
Consider the genre of the music we have chosen
Choose images that reflect the genre

Key conventions of a CD cover
Consider how the front and back are different and contain different sorts of information and why.

Front:
Name of artist or band
Central image
Stickers e.g. parental advisory or announcing well known track
Lettering/font styles and sizes: to fit in with the genre of music or design

Back:
Track names
Number of tracks
Running order
Images
Colour
Logo of band
Production details in smaller print
Web 2.0 details, for example Facebook links, or website address

Spine:
Name of album and artist
Key logo

Front cover central image (the USP):
Will we design our own artwork?
Will you choose a photograph an image or setting?
How will you manipulate any images?
What about your mise en scene?
Consider the connotations of the colours used, props, lighting, make up, clothing, how the star or subject is posed (eye contact, facial expressions ect)

Consider carefully the image you construct:
Is it to project sex appeal/glamour?
Does it highlight deeper/social concerns?
Does it adhere to positive or negative stereotypes?

Audience theory
In our research and planning, we need to comment on:
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs pyramid
Uses and gratifications theory.

Music magazine advert
1.   We need to research a number of magazine adverts for CD releases
2.   Analyse the generic conventions and apply
3.   What images/colours from our digipak will be featuring?
